Still working on the site move

For the few that have found this site while making the huge overhaul, I’m still working on the site move, it has not been forgotten about. Right now I’m down to about 410 pages that need to get moved over. Then I need to go back over all the stuff I never posted over the years and THEN it should be ready.

The last few weeks have been crazy busy with the record breaking snow here in Minnesota. So we go from nothing to OMG rush Rush RUSH!!!!

So back to work for me here, going to try and knock down a few hundred more pages by Monday.

Goofing off in the sub zero temps and freezing diesel

Video from earlier today of untreated or summer blend diesel fuel freezing pretty much solid.

Time-Lapse Of non treated summer blend diesel fuel that is meant for use only in warmer climates and it freezes up into a wax like substance within two hours at -10F or -23C temperatures.

The fuel was stored at 74F (23C) just prior to this experiment to show what happens inside the fuel system of the vehicles with untreated diesel fuel if they drive from warmer weather and into the extreme arctic sub zero polar vortex conditions that have impacted a large portion of Canada and the United States this week.

Experiment to show why so much of the commercial traffic has been delayed due to the cold weather.
Shot Description

One long clip from a two hour long video that is edited into three parts that starts out in real time showing the diesel fuel is liquid and free flowing.

Then a time-lapse starts at about 20 seconds after the timer starts or at 37 seconds into the video and continues to about one minute and fifty five seconds into the video where you see the diesel fuel thicken up and gel up.

Then the last part of the video is in real time that shows the diesel fuel is pretty much solid and what it would look like in a fuel tank or fuel system such as a vehicles fuel filter.

Sub Zero Extreme Cold Time Lapse Freezing Diesel Fuel, Vodka, Antifreeze & stuff

Freezing stuff in the crazy stupid -30F below sub zero cold weather

In this video, we take a look at the extreme cold “Polar Vortex” sub zero weather where we freeze items that you would think should be safe from the cold weather.

Shot in Minnesota during the overnight hours where the outside air temp was -28F.

We did a time lapse of summer blend or non treated Diesel fuel in the extreme cold and you can see it freezing and jelling up into a thick sludge that looked like wax. Imagine that in your fuel tank and in your fuel system.

Also included along side the diesel freezing, we froze old antifreeze that was rated for -10F to show that if you do not have the properly rated antifreeze in your engine, you will be in big trouble as this expanded. In a sealed system, this could ruin your engine.

We also revisited the freezing 40 Proof Vodka and freezing 35 Proof Rum to show the time lapse of the alcohol freezing.

As a control, we did freeze a bottle of water and last but not least, we froze time. Ok not really time but a scuba diving watch / dive computer in a large glass where it became a huge block of ice.

Special thank you to the staff at GATR Truck Center in Sauk Rapids, MN for finding the impossible to find non treated summer blend of diesel fuel that I used in this video.

Ok, it is officially stupid cold out in Minnesota so we froze some stuff

Crazy stupid cold experiments

Yes, with the insane cold temperatures here in Minnesota, it was no fun going out to try and document the extreme cold when in the middle of the night there is nobody out and every thing is closed due to the weather. It is just stupid cold out.

So what did we do here at the office of StormChasingVideo.com ? We froze some stuff in the stupid cold temps. Come On, it was just shy of -35F out side.

The video is two parts where we do a short fast clip and then we put in the behind the scenes funny stuff. We will be doing another video tonight of the stupid cold so let us know what you think we should freeze in the -35F temps.
