Multiple Tornadoes, Clear Lake And Gary, SD – BEST DAY EVER

To say it was the best storm chase ever is an understatement. Was this the tornado chase of the year? No! This was the tornado chase of a lifetime? YES.

The other day, I brought Laura with me on a storm chase. We met up with Juston Drake and Simon Brewer and chased the Clear Lake, SD, and Gary, SD, tornado outbreak.

We started the day in Appleton, MN, where we met up with Juston and Simon, and Laura finally got to meet some of Dad’s friends.

Soon we were on the chase and Laura got to see her first tornado, and Simon got the tornado photo of a Lifetime with Laura and me.

Laura had a total blast seeing what Dad does in the field when he is actually storm chasing and not running the rights and clearances side of StormChasingVideo.

We topped it off by one more daddy / daughter photo in front of the Gary, SD tornado.

The day was full of surprises, and Laura counted seven different touch downs during this chase, which is more than some chasers even saw all season.

Laura said it was her best day ever. I’m working on a longer format video for this day to post in the coming months.

Tornado Over Open Field with Time-lapse, Prinsburg, MN – 8/28/2022

Last night I saw a large, high-base tornado that touched down between Clara City and Prinsburg, MN.

The tornado was on the ground with weak rotation over farm fields and there was some small debris that could be seen spinning around the base of the tornado.

The footage starts out driving towards the tornado and then free-handing the camera while calling the National Weather Service office to report the tornado on the ground. Footage continues with various cameras shooting time-lapse of the storm motion.

It was good to finally be back out chasing after months off due to my back issues.

Hartland, MN Rare December Extensive Tornado Damage and Close Lightning 12/15/2021

Epic Lightning on the tornado warned storm in Freeborn county just south of the town of Hartland that was hit with a possible tornado. Footage then continues with an extensive damage survey of the down showing numerous building and homes damaged including damage to the back side of the post office, a destroyed bank and several severely damaged businesses and homes. I split these up into two videos to since it took a while to edit the Komodo footage.

It looks like a busy holiday week with weather in Northern Minnesota. I’m still checking the forecast for the rest of the country, but I’m trying to figure out how I can get caught up with work and get out to chase the next severe event to document more lightning footage next month with some of the southern storms.
